I must take exception with your statement that"contacts can not correct nearsightedness nor farsightedness while correcting astigmatism"I am currently wearing a soft lens that ,although is a toric lens ,still corrects the nearsightedness, and the astigmatism as well,I have had them for going on ten years, and with the last update to my prescription ,the new lesnes quite possibly provide the clearest and sharpest accuity I have ever had ,and as such I am corrected to 20/20 and can also now read 3 point type at a distance o eightteen inches with extra sharp accuity at the edges .
I am an optical engineer and as such do have a fair idea of that of which I speak, you should research your subject matter a bit more thoroughly prior to publishing your opinions
